[Cromwell, CT] The Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association [ICPA] is pleased to announce that its 2011 Marketer of the Year is Rick Bologna of Westmore Fuel in Greenwich, Connecticut. The ICPA Marketer of the Year award is awarded once a year during the association's annual meeting and represents the vote of the membership for the person who best exemplifies the ideals of outstanding industry and public service, contributions to the community, contributions to the industry, and contributions to the work of the association during the previous year.
"ICPA's highest award for personal and professional achievement is as Marketer of the Year and this year's outstanding example of a person who embodies a tremendous dedication to his customers, his community, his company and its employees and to the industry of which he is a part is Rick Bologna, " said Gene Guilford, ICPA's President. "Rick has been an enormous asset to our industry and our association as we strive to improve the quality of our fuels, the quality of our services, and the highest professional standards of consumer service that we need and we all congratulate Rick on achieving this well-deserved distinction," added Guilford.
Rick Bologna entered his family business in the mid-80s as a teen. After graduating from Iona College in 1991, Rick joined Westmore Fuel full time. Over the years, Rick has worked in every aspect of the business, guiding Westmores transformation into today's high-tech energy company. [http://www.westmorefuel.com]
In 1997, Rick was elected to ICPAs board of directors, while still in his 20s, representing a new generation of ICPA leadership. He soon became chair of the association's Management Education Committee, and later our Technical Education Committee. In both capacities Rick's leadership helped significantly raise the bar of the professionalism and training of the industry and its personnel in better service to the state's consumers. Rick has just completed two terms as chairman of ICPAs Board of Directors, during which ICPA has succeeded in passing legislation encouraging greater energy conservation incentives for the state's energy consumers and passing legislation to bring a cleaner, renewal domestic heating oil to our state.
First established In 1950, ICPA began as a small group of fuel oil dealers and gasoline distributors that came together to bring a higher degree of professionalism to their industry and the people who work in it in service to the people of Connecticut. The result was the creation of The Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association. Since then, the ICPA has been providing a forum for petroleum marketers of all types to strengthen their businesses, improve the industry, and improve their ability to serve consumers in our state.
Today, the ICPA is a thriving organization with more than 576 members with 13,000 Connecticut-based employees whose priority is to strengthen the heating fuels and motor fuels industry in service to its more than 2 million Connecticut customers. In 2004 ICPA created the ICPA Education Foundation, under which operates the Association's Technical Education Center. The Foundation is a 501[c] organization providing excellence in technical training for the 4000 professional licensed oil heat technicians who work in the trade in our state. Since 2004 our technical school has been certified by the Connecticut Department of Higher Education as a private, vocational technical school.
